Ciampino Airport – Rome
It’s a service similar to Fiumicino Airport Transfer. In this case the arrival/destination airport is Rome Ciampino Airport, which is about 15km from the city. The airport is located along the Via Appia Nuova, close to the Grande Raccordo Anulare (GRA). Born as a military airport in 1916, Ciampino Airport, named after Giovan Battista Pastine, was opened to civilian use in the Thirties. Initially intended to welcome important public figures and heads of states going to Rome, since 2001 it has become the favorite airport of low-cost airlines. However it is Fiumicino, built at the end of the Fifties, that can claim to be the biggest Italian airport. Rome’s Airport Company (ADR) is in charge of the management of both airports, that together form the airport system of the Capital. Ciampino is the closest to the city, so car transfers from the “Giovan Battista Pastine” Airport to Rome’s city center are quicker than transfers from Fiumicino Airport.
